Cafe Zenon

Posted on 04 January 2012 by admin

When we grow up, we become used to the local landscape.  There are places that become pieces of of the puzzle of our lives.  We have memories theres, sometimes we can remember just that scent, just exactly those perfect bites.  And with our economy, some of those puzzles pieces have slipped away, unable to remain.  Loss.  Everyone feels that uncomfortable feeling that is no longer right with the rythm of their world.  When Cafe Zenon closed it’s doors, it was as if the pulse of Eugene could be heard to stutter, and a dark cloud appeared on our horizon.

However Ib, owner of Cafe Soriah and Casablanca was impassioned to revive this heartbeat.  And, in doing so, seemingly restored the heart of Eugene.  Cafe Zenon has been a part of people lives, weaved into fabric of their personal experiences and very precious memories.  This restaurant has risen from the ashes to become something stronger, providing internationally unique pallate pleasing plates, and collecting what Ib believes to be the “little ambassadors” of a renewed international bistro.
If you yourself have not taken time out to share laughter and love over Zenon’s delights, make time.  Choose from such culturally sublime dishes as Thai Tiger Tear’s Salad, Knee Deep Sirloin Burger, Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna, or the incredible Manila Clams.  Share a lovely brunch with a friend, girlfriends sighing over addictive appetizers and lunch, the most romantic evening with amazing wine and perfectly paired entrees, and oh. . . the desserts!

I remember sunshine, italian sodas that bubbled with the most perfect flavors, and a cheese plate that was balanced with just the right slices of fruit, bread, and collection of nuts.  I was pregnant with my son, and Cafe Zenon gave the most perfect blend of afternoon sunshine and delicious swirling delights.  Ib has brought this back to Eugene, to all of us.  Find them on Pearl Street in downtown Eugene, and  make Cafe Zenon a part of your story.
